Description
Gastec 252S3-20 Silica gel tube
Gastec 252S3-20 Silica gel tube The silica gel tube is used in work environments where organic-solvent vapour is collected. Generally the silica gel tube is suited for substances of high polarity (e.g. acetone, methanol, etc.).
Gastec 252S3-20 is a dual-layer silica gel sorbent tube designed for collecting polar organic compounds, inorganic acids, alcohols, and high-polarity airborne vapors in industrial and workplace environments.
Unlike non-polar charcoal sorbent tubes (such as the 251S2-20), silica gel is a hydrophilic, highly polar sorbent matrix. It preferentially adsorbs polar compounds that charcoal binds poorly or desorbs inefficiently, making it the standard sampling media for substances like methanol, ethanol, amines, and inorganic acid mists.
Core Operational Features
Dual-Bed Breakthrough Detection: Features a 350mg primary section and a 170mg backup section separated by a porous polyurethane spacer. Analyzing both beds separately in the laboratory verifies whether sample breakthrough occurred across the primary layer during high-concentration or high-volume sampling.
Targeted Polar Adsorption: Ideal for polar organic vapors and water-soluble chemicals including
