Gastec CE Oxygen Sensor

Gastec CE Oxygen Sensor (frequently referenced in conjunction with Gastec’s specialized continuous air-monitoring lines and handheld gas sampling systems) is a electrochemical gas sensing module designed for measuring ambient Oxygen (O2) concentration to prevent asphyxiation and monitor confined space safety.

Unlike single-use colorimetric glass detector tubes (such as Gastec Tube 31B), the CE-series electrochemical oxygen sensor provides continuous real-time digital measurement of oxygen levels in percentage volume (O2%).

Core Operating Principle

  1. Gas Diffusion: Ambient oxygen diffuses through a gas-permeable membrane into an internal cell filled with a specialized electrolyte solution.

  2. Electrochemical Oxidation/Reduction: Oxygen undergoes a reduction reaction at the sensing electrode (cathode).

  • Intrinsically Safe Power: Operates entirely on compressed air 0.45 HP, up to 10,000 RPM, producing zero electrical sparks or thermal ignition risks in ATEX / Class I Div 1 zones.
