Description
Gastec HS-7A/HS-7A-S Hydrogen Sulphide Detector
Gastec HS-7A/HS-7A-S for Specific sensor developed for measuring hydrogen sulphide. Incorporates a constant potential electrolytic type sensor, enabling hydrogen sulphide to be accurately measured.
Gastec HS-7A/HS-7A-S Hydrogen Sulphide Detector is a compact, high-precision portable gas detector designed for continuous personal protection and atmospheric monitoring of toxic hydrogen sulphide (H_2S) gas. Manufactured by Gastec Corporation, the Gastec HS-7A/HS-7A-S Hydrogen Sulphide Detector utilizes a fast-acting electrochemical sensor to detect dangerous H_2S concentrations in wastewater treatment plants, paper mills, sewer lines, and petrochemical refineries. Featuring clear digital LCD displays, multi-tone audio-visual alarms, and a rugged weather-resistant enclosure, it ensures worker safety in hazardous and confined spaces.
Technical Overview & Operation
The Gastec HS-7A/HS-7A-S Hydrogen Sulphide Detector operates using a highly selective electrochemical cell sensor optimized for toxic hydrogen sulphide gas. Gas molecules diffuse through a porous membrane into an internal electrolyte chamber, initiating a chemical oxidation reaction at the working electrode.
This electrochemical reaction generates a micro-current directly proportional to the H_2S concentration in parts per million (ppm). The internal microprocessor converts this signal to display real-time gas levels on a backlit LCD screen. When atmospheric H_2S concentrations cross preset safety limits (such as low alarm setpoint at 10ppm or high alarm setpoint at 30ppm, the unit triggers a high-decibel audible buzzer, high-intensity red flashing LEDs, and a tactile vibration motor. The HS-7A-S variant features specialized sampling accessories for extended remote probe testing before entering confined manholes or tanks.
