Description

Parker JRS Series Level Lead Switch

Parker JRS Series is a device used to detect the level of substances such as liquid, chemical solvent, powders, and lumps within tanks, silos, and hoppers. In addition, a level switch prevents overfilling of tanks and silos and ensures tanks do not run too low, possibly interrupting production.

Technical Overview & Operation

The Parker JRS Series Level Lead Switch operates on magnetic float displacement principle. The sensor assembly consists of a central stem containing a hermetically sealed reed switch and a floating element containing an internal permanent magnet.

As the liquid level inside the vessel rises or falls, the buoyant float travels along the guide stem. When the magnet inside the float reaches the actuation point of the internal reed switch, the magnetic field trips the contact mechanism—either closing (NO) or opening (NC) the electrical circuit. The insulated flying lead wires allow easy electrical termination to external relay modules, alarm annunciators, or PLC digital input cards. The fully isolated electrical enclosure prevents fluid ingress, ensuring safe operation in high-humidity or conductive liquid environments.

Features

  • Magnetic Reed Switching: Hermetically sealed contacts ensure long electrical lifecycle and protection against oxidation, moisture, and dust.

  • Flexible Lead Wire Termination: Factory-integrated insulated lead wires simplify wiring within electrical conduit boxes or terminal enclosures.

  • Reversible Switch Action: Can be easily configured for Normally Open (NO) or Normally Closed (NC) operation by simply inverted the float orientation.

  • High Chemical & Temperature Resistance: Available in rugged engineered polymers (such as polypropylene or PVDF) and stainless steel options for broad fluid compatibility.

  • Compact Physical Footprint: Small mounting diameter enables installation in space-restricted tanks, narrow sumps, and small equipment reservoirs.

  • Direct Automation Integration: Provides clean dry-contact output signals suitable for direct wiring to PLCs, motor starters, and alarm beacons.

Applications

  • Hydraulic Power Units & Lubrication Tanks: High and low oil level alarm switching in central lube systems and hydraulic reservoirs.

  • Industrial Sumps & Drain Pits: Automatic pump control and high-water level warning in machinery drainage pits and condensate collectors.

  • Chemical Dosing & Treatment Tanks: Level monitoring for aggressive chemical reagents, acids, and water treatment day tanks.

  • Coolant & HVAC Systems: Liquid level verification in chiller tanks, expansion vessels, and machine tool coolant sumps.
