Description
Gastec 251S2-20 Activated carbon tube
Gastec 251S2-20 Activated carbon tube The activated carbon tube is used in work environments where organic-solvent vapour is collected. Generally the activated carbon tube is suited for detection of almost all organic solvents of low polarity.
Gastec 251S2-20 is a single-layer activated charcoal sorbent tube used for collecting airborne organic solvent vapors, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and low-polarity gases in industrial and occupational work environments.
Unlike direct-reading colorimetric detector tubes that change color on the spot, activated charcoal sorbent tubes act as sample collection media.
Core Operational Features
High-Adsorption Capacity: High-grade coconut shell or synthetic activated charcoal captures organic vapors with low polarity (such as benzene, toluene, xylene, alcohols, esters, and chlorinated solvents).
Single-Layer Construction (150mg): Provides a single sorbent bed optimized for standard sampling applications without a secondary backup section. (For dual-layer breakthrough protection, the Gastec 251S-20 variant with a 100/50 mg dual-bed configuration is typically used).
Lab GC Analysis Ready: Once air sampling is complete, the tube ends are capped, and the absorbed chemical agents are desorbed (commonly using carbon disulfide for laboratory chromatographic evaluation.
